Testimonials

"We have to find a common ground between the productive sector and universities in order to be able to share knowledge. We already have some disciplines addressing sustainability, but I believe that after the Global Forum, this will be extended to all courses."

Zaki Akel Sobrinho, director of the Applied Social Sciences department of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR)

The works of the Global Forum Latin America are developed according to Appreciative Inquiry, an innovative method of conversation developed by professors Ronald E.  Fry, PhD, and David Cooperrider, PhD, at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio).

The methodology of Appreciative Inquiry, with its basic steps of Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny causes adjustments and different strategies from each group and meeting.  In the case of Call for Action São Paulo, for example, Professor Ronald Fry came earlier to Brazil, accompanied by consultant Ilma Barros of Case Western, where in Curitiba they facilitated a process to plan the agenda for the São Paulo meeting.

"We created a proposal & a plan to produce a thematic ambiance wherein the participants use the concept of building knowledge from dialogue within a network," explains Alberto Blumenschein, participant of the planning.

"We reflect on the model of a geodesic dome, as created by architect, artist and thinker Buckminster Fuller (Bucky) as a geometric abstraction of natural spherical forms.  It was very inspiring,” summed Alberto.
